This large AZEK project features a large deck with one portion under a lean-to style roof (also called a shed roof). Both the roof and the deck are supported by vinyl columns. While the roof provides protection from the sun and rain, it also divides the deck into two main areas, something that's ideal for larger deck projects.
Not every roof needs screening. An open air deck may be a better choice in some situations. It gives a much better of view of the surroundings, and allows you to enjoy a nice breeze on a summer evening. It also allows for better access to the outside, which was helpful with this project, which extends along the width of an in-ground pool. The roof also has a vinyl soffit ceiling and recessed lighting. The AZEK deck below the roof features a three-layer picture-frame layout on the perimeter of the deck and landing, as well as step riser lights.
