Not every roof needs screening. An open air deck may be a better choice in some situations. It gives a much better of view of the surroundings, and allows you to enjoy a nice breeze on a summer evening. It also allows for better access to the outside, which was helpful with this project, which extends along the width of an in-ground pool. The roof also has a vinyl soffit ceiling and recessed lighting. The AZEK deck below the roof features a three-layer picture-frame layout on the perimeter of the deck and landing, as well as step riser lights.
This deck is part of a larger project by E.G. Stoltzfus, one of the best homebuilders in the South Central PA area. In addition to single-family home construction, EGS has a separate division dedicated to remodeling projects. This deck is constructed with cedar decking and railing with black aluminum balusters. Steps wrap around three sides of the deck, eliminating the need for rail and allowing the homeowner to see more of the back yard from inside the home.
